News & Updates, May 3rd, 2017
Hello fellow Rotarians and friends of Madison After Hours,

I want to thank everyone who contributed to a successful YPWeek and supported Rock the River.  Rock the River raised $2000 for The River food pantry!

Join us this Sunday evening as we learn about the hot topic of sanctuary cities from Karl Shoemaker.  Karl will inform us where the idea of sanctuary cities came from, and what they mean for different types of immigrants and refugees.

See you Sunday!

Saturday, May 21 – Service Event:  Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House provides a "home-away-from-home" for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. We will be preparing and serving a meal at their Madison location at 2716 Marshall Ct.  Due to their kitchen size constraints, they recommend that we cap our attendance at 12 people.

Join us as we learn about the Arboretum plant communities, cut brush from restored areas and remove invasive plants.  Tools, equipment, instruction, and refreshments are provided.  Participants are advised to wear long pants, sturdy shoes, work gloves, and seasonally appropriate clothing.

We Rocked the River!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Rock the River at the River Food Pantry during YP Week! We had over 100 people and raised over $2000. Thank you to Madison Magnet, The Great Dane Pub and #YPWeek for your support in planning this event!
New Partnership with the Lussier Community Education Center

Our club recently voted to begin an ongoing partnership with the Lussier Community Education Center.  We will be staffing their food pantry on the first Saturday of each month.  Sign up for shifts in our next meeting!

We've kicked off our partnership with a visit from Executive Director, Paul Terranova, in our last meeting, and with a donation of $200 "happy-sad dollars" from our club.
