Join us as we learn about the Arboretum plant communities, cut brush from restored areas and remove invasive plants. Tools, equipment, instruction, and snacks are provided. Participants are advised to bring water and wear long pants, sturdy shoes, work gloves, and seasonally appropriate clothing. Rotarians from D6250 are invited to a Rotary Club of Madison luncheon to hear from Rotary International President Gordon McInally. Cost: $25 per person for lunch. Menu: Grilled Chicken, Pasta, Caesar Salad, Breadsticks, Dessert. R. Gordon R. McInally was educated at the Royal High School in Edinburgh and at the University of Dundee, where he earned his graduate degree in dental surgery. He operated his own dental practice in Edinburgh until 2016. McInally was chair of the East of Scotland branch of the British Paedodontic Society and has held various academic positions. He has also served as a presbytery elder, chair of the Queensferry parish congregational board, and commissioner to the general assembly of the Church of Scotland. Gordon joined Rotary in 1984 at age 26. A member of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry, he has served as president and vice president of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland. He has also served RI as a director and on several committees, most recently as an adviser to the 2022 Houston Convention Committee and chair of the Operations Review Committee. Gordon says he looks forward to working with members to build new Rotary clubs and groups. "My vision is that Rotary should exist everywhere in a style to suit everyone who has the desire to be part of us and to help us do good in the world," he says.

Join us for a Volleyball Tournament at Ten Pin Alley in Verona on Saturday August 24th! Registration is $60 per team. All proceeds will be donated to Kids Against Hunger to prepare and distribute meals to impoverished people in the U.S. and abroad! To Register: 1. Register using the "Guests" button on the left side of this event page listing your contact information, and listing your Team Name in the "Tag Text". Email Mac Dempsey at mac_dempsey@hotmail.com if you have any questions. 2. PayPal your $60 registration fee to @RotaryMadisonAH and list your Team Name in the comments. (Or Venmo us at @MadCityRotary.) Other Details: The tournament will run from noon to 6PM, with each team playing 4 preliminary rounds, followed by semi-finals and finals rounds for the top 4 teams. The tournament rules will mirror the Ten Pin Alley coed rec league rules. (Teams will be expected to field not more than 3 guys and 3 girls at a time.) First place will receive a $50 gift card to Ten Pin Alley. You will receive an email confirmation of your registration within 24 hours of receipt of payment. Don't have a team? Sign up here to volunteer for Ironman Wisconsin! The Half Ironman will take place on Saturday, September 7th, and the full distance will be on Sunday, September 8. Volunteer shifts are available as early as Thursday, September 5th to assist wil athlete check-in. When filling out the "Your Information" section be sure to put that you're with the Rotary Madison After Hours group. We need to fill 20 shifts in order to earn the Community Grant, so please let Erin know how many shifts you (and your friends!) have signed up for so she can make sure we hit our goal. Note that Connor will be captaining "Run Aid Station #1", if anyone would like to volunteer as a group at that location. Thank you! |
