Greetings,

 

First, I want to say wow - we had such a great turnout for the two events we put on for YP Week.  The Sustainable Suds brewery circuit sold out (again) and the Madison Mixtape event was a huge hit.  Good beer, great music, and excellent connections.  Our biggest thanks goes to those who helped coordinate the events, and a special shout-out to our club members John Locke and Casey Collins who worked very hard to make the events a success.

 

In other news, at our last club speaker meeting we rolled out a new Recognition Points program.  From now through June 1^st, members who sign up to make contributions through Rotary Direct to the Rotary Foundation annual fund will receive a 3x matching recognition points to their donation. Recognition points are accumulated and when members reach 1000 they are awarded the esteemed Paul Harris Fellow recognition.

 

This is a special incentive for us to increase our contributions or even to begin contributing to the fund automatically for the first time.  We often see the great work that Rotary does around the world and right here in Madison through projects put on by our own and neighboring clubs.  Contributing to the Rotary Foundation is one piece of how we can sustain that impact.

Books for the World is a global literacy project, supervised by Rotarians, that puts used books from the United States that might otherwise be discarded into the hands of children in other countries where educational resources are in short supply. Join us as we sort and pack books at the Wright St. warehouse!

 

Forward Madison FC is Madison's 1^st professional soccer team in their inaugural season.  We'll be cheering them on in their second home match vs. Toronto FC II at the historic Breese Stevens Field.  For those who have signed up for tickets, feel free to meet us at The Brass Ring around 5:30 p.m. for a drink prior to the game.
