Our participation in this event is not necessary due to prior commitment by a large group. I expect to participate in the Heritage Sanctuary Volunteer Day on the East side of Madison in the same timeframe. I apologize for the late notice - Brad (608-469-9555) Join us as we learn about the Arboretum plant communities, cut brush from restored areas and remove invasive plants. Tools, equipment, instruction, and refreshments are provided. Participants are advised to wear long pants, sturdy shoes, work gloves, and seasonally appropriate clothing. Meet at the UW Arboretum Grady Tract Parking Lot, at the Southeast corner of Seminole Hwy and the Beltline Frontage Rd. |

Join us for a Volleyball Tournament at Ten Pin Alley in Verona on Saturday August 5th! Registration is $60 per team, with all proceeds benefiting Rotary Youth Exchange, which sponsors international high school student exchange in partnership with Madison High Schools! To Register: 1. Email Mac Dempsey at mac_dempsey@hotmail.com listing your Team Name, Team Captain Name, and email address. 2. PayPal your $60 registration fee to @RotaryMadisonAH and list your Team Name in the comments. Other Details: The tournament will run from noon to 4PM, with each team playing 3 preliminary rounds, followed by a final round for the top 4 teams. The tournament rules will mirror the Ten Pin Alley coed rec league rules. (Teams will be expected to field not more than 3 guys and 3 girls at a time.) First place will receive a $50 gift card to Ten Pin Alley. You will receive an email confirmation of your registration within 24 hours of receipt of payment. Thank you! This September will be the 21st year of Ironman Wisconsin in Madison. Rotarian Jason Beren from the Downtown Madison Club will share his story that started as a participant back in 2004 that evolved into volunteering, to a volunteer leader, and then onto Ironman’s staff. He’ll share how his volunteering with both Ironman and Rotary has enhanced his personal and professional life. He will discuss the different distances of triathlon, the investments in training that participants make, what’s required to put on a large event like this in our community, and the economic impact to the area. Some 4,000 plus volunteers are needed to help 4,000 participants achieve their goal of completing Ironman Wisconsin. Guests and visitors welcome! Social in the Post Bar at 5:15PM. Global Grant Project in Ghana

Join us as Walter Hughes from the Rotary Club of Montreal discusses their Global Grant water and sanitation project initiatives in Ghana! Global Grant 23-52766, Water and Sanitation with High Impact in Ghana will drill 54 new boreholes and build 324 microflush toilets in Ghana. Their project goal is to provide communities in poor communities with clean water and sanitation. They will also provide 244 micro-credit loans through village savings and loan groups to support farmers and small businesses, boreholes and household toilets to improve the economic strength of their communities. The project funding budget is $225,000. This project shall jointly be hosted by Rotary Clubs of Kumasi, Obuasi, Accra Achimota, Dunkwa and Wa, all from district 9104, Ghana, with Obuasi as the lead.
