Greetings fellow Rotarians,
Join us this Monday as Zabihullah Sahibzada, a refugee from Afghanistan, shares his living experiences in Afghanistan and his journey to be granted asylum in the United States. He has a gripping story to share, and I hope you all can make it!
Quite a few opportunities for travel and international exchange are coming up. Members of our District will be attending a Rotary Friendship Exchange to India from Februrary 4th through 14th, and additional Friendship Exchanges to Budapest and to Croatia are occurring in April and September. This year the annual Rotary International convention will be in Melbourne, Australia from May 27 to 31. Our club is also continuing to have conversations about planning a shared trip to a future R.I. convention and/or a future destination mission trip. Stay tuned, and let us know as you have questions about existing opportunities!
Please especially consider registering for the Rotary District Tri-Con Convention in La Crosse, April 27-29, 2023! The Rotary Tri-Con Conventions often have very inspiring presentations, and they are a wonderful opportunity for us to network and share ideas with other After Hours clubs. I believe that a few of our members are already making plans to attend, so please let us know if you'd like to coordinate travel arrangements. Thank you to everyone that came to help out with our River Food Pantry shift on January 25th! As we continue to have events and meeting programs that you find compelling to you personally, I hope you consider inviting guests or sharing our activities on Facebook. All of our calendar events and ClubRunner pages have social media links in the footer to make links easily shareable. I know that many of us are pretty humble and understated about self-promotion, but it can be very helpful to our club energy and event attendance to share what we're up to, both within our local Rotary community and with our friends.
