Hi everyone! It's me, Erin, back on the newsletters again! I remember finishing up my year as club president in June 2020, and counting down those bittersweet final newsletter intros. I loved coming up with something fresh, engaging, and from-the-heart every other week for a year, but it wasn't always easy, especially once COVID hit in March and there was so much fear and uncertainty in the air. I am super excited to be a part of our club's interim leadership team and have the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for all of the awesome events and opportunities going on in our club and district.
We have a couple of very important meetings coming up on November 21st and December 5th. The meeting this Sunday will be led by Casey, and we will have a short discussion about funding for two Global Grant projects that have invited our club to join, one being a water project sponsored by the Rotary Club of Milwaukee, and the other is the project led by the Rotary Club of Kiev that will teach disabled young people how to make handmade goods and sell them in an online marketplace. Our club meeting on December 5th, led by Connor, will be all about listening to our club members and mapping out our club goals and freshening up all aspects, including socials, service, programming, and time and location of meetings, to better meet what you're looking for in your Rotary Club. We want to make sure that the Rotary Club of Madison- After Hours is meeting you where you are in your life so that you can get the most out of our club, whether that's friendship and fellowship, service, networking, fun, leadership development, etc. I truly hope that you will be able to attend these meetings!
November is Foundation Month, and the big announcement is that every dollar that our club members donate from now until the end of the year will be matched, up to $1000 total, by a generous club member. Rotary International encourages every Rotarian to donate $100 per year to the Rotary Foundation. Meeting that goal qualifies us to participate in Global Grants. TRF was founded over 100 years ago and has spent more than $4B on life-changing, sustainable projects. TRF has consistently been ranked a 4-star charity by Charity Navigator, its highest rank, with 91% of funds being spent on program awards and operations. Please click through to make a donation so we can reach our goal of $100 per member and continue to participate in projects around the world that bring water, education, prosperity, and peace to communities at home and through-out the world.
Thank you all so much for your support, energy, and enthusiasm as our club grows and evolves! I look forward to seeing you at the next two meetings and supporting Casey and Connor who have very generously elected to lead our club in some important discussions.
