Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! Find out who our upcoming speakers are, what our club members are up to, and when to join us in service and fellowship!
President's Message
Hi all,
I'm very happy welcome our two newest club members, Sahas and Ben! Both have past Rotary experience, Ben with Rotaract, and Sahas with RYLA and Rotary Youth Exchange. Please help them to feel welcome!
For Monday's meeting, please come with ideas to share for Happy/Sad dollar donation causes and for a location and date for a club Christmas party. Our speaker will be Andrew Griffin, whose business MicroMyco was recently profiled by the Wisconsin State Journal. If you have any curiosity about how to cultivate mushrooms or about the sustainable food movement you should be sure to come!
Note that this November, the Lussier food pantry will be under construction to add a walk-in cooler. That construction is currently scheduled for November 27th, through December 8th, so at this time, we are still seeking volunteers for our November 11th and December 9th food pantry shifts, but stay tuned in case that changes.
Thank you for everything that you continue to do for our club and our community!
Ben Nelson is a recent UW-Madison grad in neurobiology and psychology, and an alumnus of UW-Madison Rotaract. Currently he is working at Meriter Hospital doing clinical research doing delusion enhancement studies. He is excited to be a Rotarian for the volunteering opportunities and the networking.
Welcome to the Rotary Club of Madison After Hours, Ben!
Sahas Kurumety graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in May 2023 with a BS in chemical engineering and computer science. He is originally from the Philadelphia area but moved out to Madison in September 2023 to work as a software engineer at Epic Systems. He attended RYLA in 2017 and went on Rotary Youth Exchange to Buenos Aires, Argentina from 2017 to 2018. Since his return, he has served as a Rotex mentor to help guide RYE students coming from and going to South American countries. In his free time, he likes to play golf and tennis, and he loves to travel whenever possible to experience different cultures. He looks forward to continuing his connection with Rotary and staying engaged in the community.
