Hello fellow Rotarians,

    I hope this week’s newsletter finds you healthy and successfully navigating all of the changes to daily life that this week has thrown at us. Given the public health recommendations to slow the spread of COVID-19, our board has decided to cancel this Sunday’s meeting on March 15th and reschedule our speaker from Wisconsin Literacy. Most other clubs in our area are cancelling all club and committee meetings for the next few weeks, and our speaker from Wisconsin Literacy has been advised to avoid group meetings, also. Even though our club is made up of young and healthy individuals, we should still follow social distancing measures to slow the spread of this highly contagious infection.

    Please keep an eye on your emails and the club calendar to stay apprised of future changes and cancellations to club events and meetings. Our shift on March 14th at the Lussier Food Pantry has been cancelled. The River Food Pantry has cancelled all volunteer groups for the time being, which includes us helping out at the market session on March 19th.

    If there are any ways in which your fellow Rotarians can assist you at this time, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Personally, I’m looking forward to the day when toilet paper and cleaning supplies are back in stock in the stores!

The Post at the Park Hotel, 22 S Carroll Street, Madison, social at 6:30 pm, meeting at 7 pm  In Wisconsin, 1.5 million people need help building literacy skills to get their GED Credential, understand their health, improve their English, and build work readiness skills.  Wisconsin Literacy changes lives by strengthening literacy statewide. Liz Fitzpatrick, Data and Communication Manager, will share stories about the impact low literacy has on adults and families, how Wisconsin Literacy strengthens literacy, and what you can do support literacy locally and statewide!

Asset Builders of America is a non-profit organization that has been teaching financial capability and economic empowerment to low and moderate income youth and families since 1999. Founders Richard Entenmann and Robert Wynn were both working in financial investor protection—Entenmann with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Wynn with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions. They both saw the damage that lack of wealth and financial illiteracy were creating for millions of Americans and together, they founded Asset Builders. Their goal was simple—to proactively educate and prepare individuals to avoid financial pitfalls and predatory practices, as well to show a better way to create personal wealth and economic stability.
