President's Message
Welcome to a new Rotary year…
As we head into the second half of the summer, our club has a lot to look forward to! Our annual Volleyball Tournament fundraiser is just around the corner in August, and we're gearing up to volunteer at Ironman Wisconsin in September—two great opportunities to have fun, serve our community, and support our club's projects.
We're also lining up an exciting slate of speakers for our upcoming meetings, so be sure to join us and invite a friend or prospective member. Thank you to everyone who continues to make our club such a welcoming, energetic, and service-minded group. I can't wait to see all that we'll accomplish together in the months ahead!
I hope you can join us, either in person or via Zoom, for our club planning meeting this evening as we finalize details for the upcoming volleyball tournament and discuss our goals for the year ahead.
Sign up to volunteer with us for Ironman Wisconsin! The Half Ironman will take place on Saturday, September 12th, and the full distance will be on Sunday, September 13th. Volunteer shifts are available as early as Thursday, September 10th to assist wil athlete check-in.
When filling out the "Your Information" section be sure to put that you're with the Rotary Madison After Hours group. We need to fill 20 shifts in order to earn the Community Grant, so please let Connor know how many shifts you (and your friends!) have signed up for so he can make sure we hit our goal.
Note that Connor will be captaining "Run Aid Station #1" on Saturday, if anyone would like to volunteer as a group at that location.
Tana Elias, Director of Madison Public Libraries, will be joining us at our August 3rd meeting to share some of the tools and experiences that our library system uses to keep our community informed and engaged, including some cool but possibly lesser-known resources that we can access. She'll also update us on the brand new Imagination Center, a combination public library and park pavillion currently under construction in Reindahl Park.
Join us each month when we volunteer at the Lussier Family Education Center's food pantry. Our shift is the second Saturday of each month, 10:45 am-12:15 pm. Click below to access our sign-up sheet.
