If you haven't seen the recent news this week, Africa has been certified as wild-poliovirus free after four years without a polio case! This is huge news as now only one region in the world continues to see wild poliovirus transmission. Rotary International's primary goal has been the eradication of polio throughout the world. This certification moves us one step closer to that goal. At the same time, we are moved one step closer towards needing a new goal. For our club, this comes at a perfect time as we just finished our annual strategic planning where we discussed goals for our club and what we want the next year of our club to look like. As a quick recap of what you can look forward to: - Signature project - libraries in laundromats - Volunteer opportunities focused on our signature project, food insecurity, and environmental needs - Diverse speakers focused around our signature project and the events we partake in - Various new socials including an outdoor activity fellowship, bike riding fellowing, and sports teams (when we're able) Although these are our goals and focus for our club, we are by no means limited to this list. If you find a new volunteer opportunity, event, or speaker you think would be great to hear from, let me know and I'd be happy to help pull together resources or get that scheduled.
