Greetings fellow AH Rotarians,

 

Hopefully, everyone has a plan to enjoy the weekend and the return of seasonable early autumnal weather. The chill of the past few days should be behind us, at least for a couple of weeks. It was far too early to give up on fresh flowers and produce from the garden, and thankfully we seem to have avoided the too early frost.

 

The sun-shiny weekend will also be a good time to sell some Bucky Beads. Thanks to all who signed up, I'll see you at the Madison South Rotary Park across from the stadium on Saturday morning, but sickness has thinned our ranks a bit and we could still use an additional volunteer or two in the 9:45-11:45 time slot.  And please keep in mind that we will have three more sessions at the remaining three Badger home games, that is on October 22 (game at 2:30 vs Purdue), on November 5 (game time TBD vs Maryland), and on November 26 (game time TBD vs Minnesota). I would like to ask someone to consider taking the lead on November 5, as I will be out of town.

 

October holds a couple of Rotary wide events. The Environmental Days of Service is happening now, we have no club plans but let me know if anyone has individual plans to participate in an environmental project, and perhaps we can push the club in that direction in future Octobers. World Polio Day is on October 24 and the recent case in New York demonstrates that continued commitment to the containment of the disease is well warranted. District President Ben Bauer has issued a challenge to the district to increase its contributions to Polio Plus and has organized a Polio Plus Society for those who wish to contribute specifically to this cause.

 

But it might be better to let him speak directly to the matter, so please join us on Monday, October 4 at the Park Hotel or on zoom at the usual times (5:15 social and 5:45 meeting) to hear from District Governor Benjamin Bauer, and please bring your questions and comments concerning plans for the remainder of this Rotary year.
